Fred - thanks for the invite. I doubt we'll make it this week because Heather is on her last week of P90X and is doing that workout instead of coming to the run.
Scott and I didn't get to say goodbye to you guys yesterday! Will you be at the run tomorrow night? I was thinking of going and dragging him along. Also I think my membership has expired! Who do I get a new card from and pay my fees to?
904-501-0900
Thanks
Due to the nature of our dog training business, we use the early mornings and early evenings to work the dogs in the coolest part of the day. Saturdays, we conduct classes in the AM, but are available in the late morning/afternoons on most days, if we plan it.
My wife Allison and I are always looking for some ocean swim company.
Saturdays are not good for us. Do you swim any other time in ocean?
Have fun~Run Hard~Ride Fast~and SING LOUD!!!
Good luck to the muddy buddy crew tomorrow!
Thanks.
I'm up for an "easier" early loop... 8:45-9:00 min. pace.

Phil, David and John also joined us, but they don't check this board:)
Reminder that we are riding at 7:30 from Publix.
Scott- not sure if anyone is meeting before the race tomorrow. Keep checking the bulletin board.
6:30 AM start to beat the heat
All are welcome

Pie time is fast approaching!
Can't wait to meet baby Born!!
Thanks.
Thanks.
Meeting is going to be low key tonight since there is not much on the agenda!!
And nice - it sounds like you weren't running with us anyway, so you didn't miss anything. There were several people there at 7:30.
Because 6:30 isnt 6:45 and if I could have made 6:45 I would have expected you to be gone by then as this board makes clear we start on time.
Heather - how true.
That notice is exactly why this board was set up. Perfect situation would have resulted in the group looping back for the 7:30 start, but they made an effort to include all.
See you there
1 mile
2 x 800
4 x 400
8 x 200
5k pace or faster.

Hope to see you all there.

Nice Lighthouse run with Juan and MIA!
Another great B-day bash last night.
Small but fun lighthouse crew this morning.
143 days : 20 hours : 46 minutes : 32 seconds
Thinking 1 mile warm-up, 2min on/ 2min off (hard to very hard effort) X 10, cool down the rest of the way. This should feel easy compared to the beating we took the past three weeks.
Quick adventure update: 10 teams withdrew from the race out of 50. Mims the word is still in. T-storms flipped 4 of 7 canoes and they closed the tunnel last night but as far as I can tell, they made it through and are still trekking through with more running, mountain biking and a ropes course.
Nice run in Guana after the race. I finally got to eat some dirt when I tripped over a root. So happy there were plenty of witnesses. I guess I'm a real runner now. HAHA
YOU MEAN 6:00AND CHANGE!
Who is timing this year?
Step away from your computer and spend some quality time with your family.
It's OK, the bulletin board will be here tomorrow.

Red Dress Hash was a very hot event on a very hot day
Everyone looked pretty fiery. The guys in this club especially look good in dresses (all lengths), wigs, fishnets, pearls, makeup and breast enhancements. Women, of course we look good! Spartacus came pregnant. Disco was stopping traffic on A1A looking for the on-in. Needed a lesson on following hash marks. Motorist I'm sure were thinking something else.
All the virgins were immediately confused at the start even after directions were shown and given twice. You think out of 20 virgins someone would take control?? Antics ensued over the bridge and heading north. Beer stop was an old favorite on Cuna and Spanish where we finished with hash name introductions. Was really great seeing old time hashers, StriderRider and Nudiebootie. Think Nude Hash Run!! Hope we see more of them.
We tried our hardest to hear Dougs (Lianes guy)Red Dress CD of all red dress songs, but alas the roar of hashing interfered. Thank you Doug for your efforts and hope to dance to it soon!
Perfect on-in on Dolphin Drive at Catherine Patlas. Most jumped right in the pool!! It was very steamy. Particularly enjoyed many comments of regular hashers swearing the on in was going to be at Peggahontas & Scallywags. Psyche Out to those second guessers. Many thanks again to Catherine. For once I don't think it got out too much in advance!
Getting to our third timers....
not an easy task for any of us and the friends that try and stimulate ideas and always slightly political.
The Vilano ACRR crew (mafia)
Deby Doak: OMG (Oh My God)- very expressive woman
Karen Keys: BootyCall (mafia decision to change BarefootDancer- remember the Sassy Chick mafia??)Ssshhh we don't want to talk about the boot, or do we! Lets just say it was my first choice period.
Chelle: Sandbagger We tried to be nice, but lets just call it what it is....a huge group hash decision, and may I add a great hash name for years to come!
Erin: Lie-Ability- I preferred LegallyBlond and will accept a protest!! Your friends tried to help. What are friends for.
Kirra: Roxy- should we add Foxy. Avid local surfer girl, daughter of Deinse
Hobbs: IronMan - need I say anymore!
Bob Wong: Wong Way Wong (do I have this right??) Certainly he does get lost, but he's got plenty hash soul and depth, does anything else matter.
Red Dress Hash Awards (had very eschewed notes here, but lets see if we have them)
Most Prepared Virgin: Becca- Mrs. Matnazas Ave. - only virgin with a whistle!!
Miss (Virgin) Congeniality: Bruce - very concerned with virgin etiquette
Best Accessorized Male: Doug Imshaug - only one who thought to wear pearls
Miss needs a Bigger Bra: Matt Bridenstien (he was competing with Miss Presidente!)
Best Custom Designer Red Dress: Twinkle Toes - a one of a kind, great fur fringe
Ms. Cheap Walmart Beauty: Spartacus- she put out her fag before her award and giving birth.
Sexiest Runway Model: Disco, hands down, Ouch!
All Around Hasher: Yog-Runner
Great pizzas from Carmelos downtown on King!! Many thanks to Chainsaw, Olive Oyl and Shipwreck.
Peckerhead: Next hashmaster!!???
Great time, thank you to all hashers for making it great everytime!! on-on
Peggahontas
Happy Mothers Day to all our Running Mamas!!
5:45am at Starbucks for an easy 5.
5:15pm for an easy 10-12.
All are welcome! Anyone?
Will post a more detailed account later in the day!!
Prelim #'s 61 hashers and also a few non-running guests.
20 Virgins (where do they come from?)
7 Third timers
12 Second timers and 24 regulars
No, we were not expecting this crowd given alot of regulars were MIA or outta town!!
Why would we want to go to Orlando to hash when we have our own style great hashes right here in the nations oldest....I won't be pondering that one much......
but thanks for the offer.
Try one of Orlando's Hashes and see how its done.
I was sure I was getting a ticket.

We need of a few more helpers, please post if you can make it. Please be there around 7-7:15 for course set up or 7:30-7:45 for help with the clock/ timing. You will definitely have the opportunity to race as well if you want. I am, one of the few races I have a chance in placing :)
Besides a beautiful oceanfront course, I reiterate what JB said about the great door prizes and awards they always have. Parking will be very easy this year as well!
Who is in?
Thanks to all of you that are helping out on Saturday.
http://picasaweb.google.com/voiceofgrog/InauguralMicklerMile#
Thought I would share...
I can help on Saturday at the race also.
To add to Beck's post the race is being held in Crescent Beach this year.
Thanks for the run this morning Juan.

It would be great if anyone that will be helping out show up around 7 to 7:15 to assist with setting up. We will mainly need folks for the finish line but it should not take too many of us so if you want to run go for it.
I especially NEED Mickey Mouse, etc. Disney medals for the kids at Wolfson - those are the favorites! Medal donors can drop them off at any 1stPlace Sports store in Jax or mail them to me at:

Also, I echo the Beck's posts thanks for helping moving the equipment to the new storage unit. See everyone tomorrow night at Zhanras.

We're watching it live at Cafe 11
(It' 10:10am now)
Anyone up for 12 tonight?
Calkins - though you have a score to settle with Boston, relax and stick to your pace and you'll nail it.
JB (DHTTB), Matanzas Ave (he who wears the SPY BELT with pride and filled with many gels), and Jude - you all just take what the day brings you, soak up as much of the experience as you can, and leave it all out there on the course for your first Boston.
MIA - I hope you're injury free and have a great race, too.
I wish I was there with you guys . . . next year for sure! I can't wait to track your progress online:)
5:45am run from Starbucks tomorrow. Anyone?

Partly sunny. A chance of showers in the morning. Highs in the upper 50s. Northwest winds 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph. Chance of rain 30 percent.
Great temp. and not too windy. It will be a great day for a marathon.
The funeral is at 2pm on April 18th (Sunday) at

Quote Of The Day
"My motto for Sunday will be No risk, no fun! ... If it should turn out that this is too fast for me, it will get very tough in the final part of the race. But a marathon is not a children's birthday party! If I don't try going for 2:09, I will never find out if I am capable to do it. That is why the marathon is special - you can not try that in training before the race."
- One of our favorites - Günther Weidlinger - shooting to become the first Austrian below 2:10 in the marathon Sunday. Race live at 2:40am Eastern online and in English.
Post or e-mail me (if you're not embarrassed) your Yasso time, your balls-out Loop time, and your marathon time.
The Dave(Predictor) Model says that your times should be analogous: A 3:00 Yasso time should coincide with a 30:00 Loop time, and it would predict a 3:00:00 marathon time (assuming you are fit for the long distance.)
Anybody else can pipe up with data if you want....

I just wanted to thank you and the crew again for the great job you did at the race. It was so nice knowing that the timing was something I didn't have to worry about, and you all did a wonderful job. I know waking up early on your day off takes dedication and I just wanted to thank you again. Please relay my thanks to all who came this morning.

Great turnout for the Easter parade. By fat the most spectators for a parade that the easterdillo has been entered.

In the past year I've done several different stories on car safety in the Jacksonville area.
The next story, which should run this weekend, will focus on the number of pedestrians and cyclists who've been hit by cars in our area. We'll be comparing and contrasting the local numbers with other parts of the state.
As part of this story I'm looking for both pedestrians and cyclists who've been hit by cars. I'd like to know how you got hit, if the person who hit you was ever caught and what type of injuries you suffered.
I'd also like to get opinions on whether the Jacksonville area (which includes Nassau, Clay and St. Johns counties) is a safe place for people who walk or ride bikes.
Please call me at (904) 359-4470 or e-mail at larry.hannan@jacksonville.com.
Thanks.
Best advice is to purchase at a fitness/race expo. Usually discounted + cash back.

If the web site had a broader forum with more threads, the bridge debate could be moved there.
But a new web site is as likely as a St. Aug inlet bridge.
Vernal Equinox 1:32 PM EDT.
Woo Hoo.
Good Bye ol' man Winter.
Your proposed 5 mile long bridge would:
RE: I didn't propose a 5 mile bridge, I just said over the inlet. Someone else added the "skyway" idea.
1)cost in the hundreds of millions of dollars range and maybe even crack a billion
RE: DOT estimated that if the BOL was built brand new it would cost $57M. This bridge would be in that ball park plus the extension of the highway. $100M at most.
2) force people who live on Porpoise Point out of their homes due to eminent domain
RE: Google Map it. There is perfect vacant entry point onto Palencia Street which then runs directly to the A1A - Vilano Towne Center intersection. No eminent domain necessary.
3) ruin the beach views from the state park, Salt Run and the lighthouse, and kill the inlet view from downtown
RE: The Vilano Bridge and 312 Birdge look great.
4) divert tourist traffic away from downtown St. Augustine, costing businesses and the city itself millions in revenue.
RE: A lot of people avoid downtown because of the traffic problems. It is a destination now, the lessen congestion would help tourism.
You say it would reduce traffic around the BOL. I don't think the city is too concerned about that, judging by the recently built drawbridge.
You also say it would increase usage of the north end of the state park, but I don't think anybody is worried about that, either. They banned driving on that section of the beach for a reason.
RE: The reason is that a truck ran over a high school girl's head. (picture A1A along Flagler Beach - it is awesome).

I propose a new law - No More Landfills, Waste Hauling, Incinerators, Sewer Treatment, etc. It would be unpleasant for a while, but we'd get the message soon enough, and then FIX the problem.
Run north in the state park where the road would be and 9 times out of ten you do not see a single person. What good is a park if no one uses it?
and put a bridge straight to Vilano. It would ease a lot of traffic going north and revive the Vilano
Towne Center project.
We wouldn't need a new bridge or new lanes if ALL traffic westbound had to turn north.
If you don't like it, you should have gone to the meetings. People had their say, and this is what we got....
I would be happy to do some hours before 12:00 noon at the SJC Wellness Fair if needed
To: Brud Helhoski, mayor, commissioner
Cc: Andrea Samuels, vice mayor, commissioner
Dear Brud,
This morning, not unusually, the beach walkover at the north boundary of Sea Colony was locked well after sunrise, at 8:30 AM to be specific. I took a picture, see below. Sunrise was at 7:31. While I waited, two people climbed over the railing. Somebody's not doing a job paid for by SAB, tax money poorly spent. A guess: the employee was enjoying coffee, conversation (with other SAB workers), and cakes at the Beach Pier office.
May I respectfully suggest:
a) Open the gates at a specified time rather than at a moving time like sunrise. This is easier for an employee to accomplish and is a much clearer instruction. And residents would better know when to expect to be able to use it.
b) The gates be open from 5:00 AM to 9:00 PM if, in fact, it is necessary to lock the gates at all. This is the only walkover that I know of in the county that is not open 24 hours per day.
Residents with full time jobs (i.e., those who earn the money used to pay property tax) walk/run/bike the beach before and after work. Now they must enter and leave via other walkovers and not use this very nice walkway. By opening, and closing, at a regular time enough prior to and following the work day, more residents will be able to use this excellent facility.
Yes, I understand that our neighbors at Sea Colony paid a lot for their homes, have high real estate bills, and perhaps are politically vocal. But I think it unreasonable that the walkover be closed during prime use times. Those in Sea Colony should be able to accept that it be closed from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM, eight hours per day. Why should the homes aside the other walkovers, that are not closed at all, have the extra pedestrian traffic diverted to them by the closure of this ramp? That's not fair in my opinion.
Very truly,
Peter Spiller

To realize the worth of the anchor, we need to feel the storm.
See you on the road!
The event will take place at the Agricultural Center on March 24, 2010 from 8am to 2pm.
Is there any interest out there to man the booth between these hours? I could possibily get a way for two hours. Just post if you are interested. If we have enough volunteers I will commit the club.
Thanks!
This is the video of Grant and Jesse Misterly with their daughter Mabel, being the youngest person to cross the Bridge of Lions Grand opening...I am not sure if this will work..give it a try :))

With all of the issues you could be fighting for, you choose to look down on runners with ipods?!
Why, because of some black swan thing that happened to a poor guy on a beach somewhere?
I happen to think that whatever gets people off their fat butts and exercising is a good thing. The running world should be inclusive, not completely snobby and judgmental (like it is, because of people like you!)
So grow up, mind your own business and stop feeling so unjustifiedly superior!

Just in case anyone else was wondering what the plane argument below was about. Sad day for running and runners, I dont think Ipods kill people, but this certainly makes you want to turn down the sound. Although, I dont know if that would have helped him.
And also, we will park on the west side of the Bridge of Lions per Karen...to either run or walk across at 9:45 am when we are permitted to take our turn..let's represent the ACRR..and wear our Singlets or anything with ACRR (RED) looking forward to it :)
So if I'm hanging my laundry while wearing an ipod an a plane hits me from behind I got what I deserved?
There was a ne wind the surf was 2' he was running into the wind and the plane had no propeler with a stalled engine. It was gliding down.
His number was up.
I'm in for the 5:15 early loop.

BP - The ACRR has use of the track at SAHS on Thursday nights from 5:30 to 7:00 when there is not a conflict with HS athletics. I will post each week what the availability is. It will also be on the calendar one I can get the school to respond to my numerous calls asking for an updated calendar of events. Hope to see you out there.
I am having a free CPR (cardio pulmonary resuscitation) class for ACRR at my house Monday march 8th, from 7-10pm. This is not a certificate class, no card will be issued, it is informational only. The AHA calls it the Friends and Family Course. I will review adult, child, and infant CPR and choking and other common emergencies. Please give me a call or text if you can attend there is limited amount of room and practice mannequins. Come on over, we'll have some eats, drink some beers and create some emergencies. I'll throw together food, but bring whatever you like to drink. Ron Langdon 814-7337. 200 N. Matanzas Blvd, google map it or call me and i'll get you there.
Also, running sixteen tomorrow morning at 5:30am. Hoping to do a progression run workout.
Don't forget that you have to be an ACRR member to join in the fun. Also, bring a food item to share, and your beach/lawn chair to relax before/after the race.
Also - I need one person to go with me on Friday morning to Jax for a pre-set up of our area. Not sure Fred if you are still up for the task??
Megann Schooley is the Director of Wellness at The University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences Wellness Center where she is responsible for operations of the Wellness Center and the development of employee, student and community wellness programs. She is also a part-time faculty member on the Wellness/Exercise/Orthopaedics team for the University of St. Augustine's entry level DPT program and online programs. She works clinically in St. Augustine as a part-time physical therapist in an outpatient orthopaedics private practice.
She would probably be a good source as to where your sister might find what she is in need of. The USA number is (800) 241-1027 and they can probably put you in touch with her.
So I figured, someone in the local running club may have info concerning this and/or could point us in the direction towards this. I tried Adventure Boot Camp but they haven't responded yet. Is there anywhere/anyone else I can contact?
See y'all March 13, and have a nice day.
Time: 5 pm
Route: State Park/Beach (through back gate- I have the monthly code, so fence jumping not required)
Distance: 8- 10 mi ( to the inlet/ jetty and back)
Low tide @ 6:41 pm
I need some help! I have a great friend whose mom has been in flagler hospital for some time and when she gets out, she's not going to be able to care for her dog anymore. He has contacted animal rescue but has asked me to ask around to see if we could find someone to take her in. It sounds as if this is all going to happen quickly in the next few days so if anyone knows someone who may be interested, please contact me asap. Even if someone would be willing to foster until a permanent home was found, it would be better than the animal rescue route! Any help would be appreciated, thanks guys!
Here is some info on the doggie:
Willa's a 4 or 5 year old weimeraner that has about as much energy as a 2 year old dog. She loves the beach and is very friendly with people, almost to a fault - she'll jump up sometimes but will get down if told to. She will sit on command, but other than that isn't very well trained. We did however train her to ring a bell placed on the door whenever she needs to go out and use the bathroom. She does bark loudly from time to time, but it's just to get attention. She will only bite at someone when they try to give her hugs - she really doesn't like being picked up or having someone wrap her up. She's good with kids and good with other animals too. I'm pretty sure she's up to date with shots, but not 100%. Finally, I think she has fleas right now simply because my Mom hasn't had the energy to leave the house much and couldn't get the flea medications.
Beck's got you...anyone else?
Please text or call as I only look at board once every other week weather I need to or not.
Ron....I plan on being there but will be coming from work....not sure on the timing.
Chris is in for the track tonight as well.
Nice (small) group at the lighthouse this morning.
I appreciate your astuteness, Mr. Neville. ; )
