Registration for the 32nd running of the First Coast Rehabilitation Matanzas 5000 is now open ($20 until Jan 7th). This year the run starts at 9a on Saturday January 21st.

Congratulations go to this year’s now-traditional thanksgiving morn XC race winners! Coffee mugs were awarded to Marc Akbar, Nico de Vnes, Ana Maria de Vries and Meghan Macardy as the 1st and 2nd place overall men’s and women’s racers. Kevin Gamble and Tamara Fellows took home masters mugs as well.

“The “PATRIOT HASH” will take place on Saturday, December 10 at 4 p.m. in honor of Veterans Day. Please dress for the theme — whatever that means to you. Cost is $10 for imbibers and $5 for teetotalers. Location to be announced! This hash will have live hares with an actual reward for those who catch a hare! See you there! On On!”

ACRR 2011 Running Camp

We were excited to bring back the ACRR Running Camp this summer! We had 17 enthusiastic campers, and a great group of volunteers! We extend a big thank you to all who helped make the camp great: Camp Director – Todd Neville; Guest Speakers – Dirk Bockel, Deb Powers, Justin Taylor, and Steve Vighetti; and Volunteers – Brent Bechtold, David Beck, Leah Beck, Peggy Bliss, Justin Breidenstein, Judith Burdan, Kevin Burrell, Jessica Misterly, Heather Neville, Jim Powers, Fred Schmidt, Liane Stark, Sandy Sutton, and Mary Lee Weeks.

The camp concluded at the Bridge of Lions 5k. Pictures of campers from the race, and on some training runs, can be found by clicking the picture above (note– the campers all had green and black bibs). Other pictures from the race can be found here.

FLORIDA PARK SERVICE SPRINTS INTO THE ENDLESS SUMMER
~Endless Summer Run/Walk~
St. Augustine –Anastasia State Park and the Friends of Anastasia State Park are hosting their annual 10K (6.2 mile) run and 5K (3.1 mile) beach walk through the beautiful and scenic Anastasia State Park on September 17th at 7a.m. To get ready for this event the Friends of Anastasia will be offering an Endless Summer Run/ walk mini training camp which will be held on August 20th and September 3rd at 7a.m.These mini training camps will help the runner/ walker become acquainted with the race course and prepare the runner physically. This is a cross country run and beach walk participants must be fit to run or walk on soft sand, uneven terrain, mixed pavement types, sun exposure, heat, and humidity. The Friends of Anastasia State Park is an organization composed of local volunteers that provide services and host fundraisers to preserve the natural and cultural resources within the Anastasia State Park.

summer is in full swing and here are a few things to look forward to.

July 11th — ACRR Running Camp — Don’t forget to sign up! Camp is open to 7th – 12th graders and spots are still available. The camp concludes with…

July 16th — Bridge of Lions 5K — it’s hot, it’s traditional, and it’s your chance to run with the campers.

Aug 14th — Summer Social — Summer Social is set for Sunday, August 14 from 2 to 6 p.m. at the Pier Pavillion! Beverages of all types will be provided. Please bring a dish of some sort. Games and music including Corn Hole, Polish Horse-Shoes, and Bocci Ball.

Nov 5th — Rock ‘n’ Roll Savannah Marathon — ACRR has picked the RnR Savannah Marathon as the club marathon. Training is gearing up and a TON of local runners are committed to going. Read this thread for more info.

note — the saturday morning group run from publix now begins at 6.30a. the tue/thur OFC runs have moved to 6.30a also.

ACRR Running Camp

The Ancient City Road Runners invite you to join us for a fun-filled camp designed to make you a better runner!

Date: July 11 – 16, 2011
Time: 2:00 – 6:00 pm

Vilano Beach Community Center
120 Meadow Ave., St. Augustine, FL 32084

 The camp is open to rising 7th – 12th graders.
 Each day will include classroom lessons and running.
 The curricula will include running form, nutrition, training strategy, and running as more than a hobby.
 Enrollment is limited to the first 50 registrants.
 The cost for the week is $50 and includes entry into the Bridge of Lions 5K race on July 16.

15th Annual Vilano Bridge 5K Run / Walk

you haven’t quit training on the Vilano Bridge now that the Gate River Run is over have you? because the 15th annual Vilano Bridge 5k will be held on May 7th at 8am. the race starts and finishes behind North Shores Community Center.

this race is being timed by ACRR and volunteers are needed. if you are able to help see ACRR Prez David Beck in person or on the forum.
