    ACRR Summer Update

    summer is in full swing and here are a few things to look forward to.

  • July 11th — ACRR Running Camp — Don’t forget to sign up! Camp is open to 7th – 12th graders and spots are still available. The camp concludes with…

  • July 16th — Bridge of Lions 5K — it’s hot, it’s traditional, and it’s your chance to run with the campers.

  • Aug 14th — Summer Social — Summer Social is set for Sunday, August 14 from 2 to 6 p.m. at the Pier Pavillion! Beverages of all types will be provided. Please bring a dish of some sort. Games and music including Corn Hole, Polish Horse-Shoes, and Bocci Ball.

  • Nov 5th — Rock ‘n’ Roll Savannah Marathon — ACRR has picked the RnR Savannah Marathon as the club marathon. Training is gearing up and a TON of local runners are committed to going. Read this thread for more info.

    note — the saturday morning group run from publix now begins at 6.30a. the tue/thur OFC runs have moved to 6.30a also.

    update –a car pool will be meeting at the carousel at 5:45 am and leaving no later than 6 am.

    With the 2011 Gate River Run being a few short days away I hope everyone has gotten in enough Vilano Bridge repeats!

    This year’s ACRR exclusive area features Porta-Potties, beer, massages, a changing area, soda, water, utensils, cups, napkins, etc. If you are going to be there you may want to bring a chair and a food item to share.

    Remember — Only current club members can enter the reserved ACRR area. if you are not sure if your membership is up to date you can check this list or contact matanzas5k@gmail.com with any questions.

    New ACRR Club Officers

    At this month’s meeting new club officers were elected. And they are:

  • President – David Beck
  • Vice President – Jessica Misterly
  • Treasurer – Justin Breidenstein
  • Membership – Jim Powers
  • Secretary – Dana Price (returning)

    Stepping down was Justin Breidenstein (President 2 years), Meredith Breidenstein (Membership, 2 years), and Shelby Decker (Treasurer, 2+ years). Thanks for your contribution to the club and running in St. Augustine!

    Other than the elections there were a few hot topics, especially the Gate River Run ACRR area. The exclusive area will have port-o-lets, a changing area, food and beer BUT your must be a current member to enter. so be sure to join/renew now.

    St. Augustine’s largest 5k, the Matanzas 5000, is only a week away and this year we are hoping to shatter last year’s record of almost 1,700 finishers! So register early and plan to pick up your packet Friday night at the Expo. This year the packet will include an exclusive tote bag provided by the title sponsor First Coast Rehabilitation.   • the Ragnar Relay is happening right now! ACRR has submitted both a men’s and women’s team and the men’s team is attempting to set the state record. follow the action on the ACRR discussion board. update– the men’ team came in first and the women’s came in second.

  • Compassion 5k results can be found right here! congratulations go to ARCC winners Chris Calkings and Angela Tecco!
