St. Augustine Running Club

Olay!!! Grab your sombrero and tequila and meet us at 4 p.m. Hash will start at Casa de Bliss (home of Jay and Peggy Bliss) located at 12 Oglethorpe.

Theme is obvious: CINCO DE MAYO!!!
Dress according to the theme — whatever that means to you.

Cost is $10 for those who will imbibe, and $5 for those who will not.
Course will be 2 miles or less, and the total event will require approximately 3 hours of your time. Third-timers get their much-anticipated hash names.

it was a bit windy but other than that everything was wonderful. the dedicated ACRR area was chocked full of food, drink and fast runners.

GateRiverRun2012

The 2012 Gate River Run is just a few short weeks away, so it’s time to talk about the ACRR members-only reserved area.

This year’s ACRR exclusive area will feature Porta-Potties, beer, massages, and a changing area. Please bring a food item to share after the race. ACRR will provide soda, water, utensils, cups, napkins, etc. You may want to bring a chair or blanket to sit on.

Remember — Only current club members can enter the reserved ACRR area. The entrance will be staffed, and current members will be given wrist bands. Membership dues may not be paid at the entrance. Family memberships entitle entry to two adults and their children. Individual and student memberships entitle entry to the member only. If you are not sure if your membership is up to date you can contact matanzas5k@gmail.com with any questions. DO NOT WAIT UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE TO JOIN/RENEW. It takes time for PayPal to process the transaction. Please join/renew before the beginning of March to insure your membership is up to date. On the morning of the race, a car pool will be meeting at the Davenport Park carousel at 5:45 am and leaving no later than 6 am.

Thinking of becoming a member? In addition to the ACRR reserved area at the Gate River Run, membership includes a membership card, reduced entry fees at many local races and discounts from local merchants such as Mango Mango’s, 1st Place Sports, Seafood Shoppe, Massage by Mo, Smoothie King, Atlantic Automotive, Fish Tales, and A1A Cycle Works.

At this month’s meeting new club officers were elected. And they are:

April 13-14 this spring marks the 3rd Annual Don’s Friend 5k weekend of events. This year there is an early signup reward for ACRR members. Below Jim Wauldron expains the deal.

The SPECIAL DEAL for ACRR Members is that they get a FREE upgrade to a TECH Shirt for Don’s 5K. (We are offering the upgrade on the web site for an extra 5 bucks for non members.)
We will have to know IN ADVANCE if they are a member. Offer expires on March 25th. so we can get the shirts on time for the race.)

Registration for the 32nd running of the First Coast Rehabilitation Matanzas 5000 is now open ($20 until Jan 7th). This year the run starts at 9a on Saturday January 21st.

Congratulations go to this year’s now-traditional thanksgiving morn XC race winners! Coffee mugs were awarded to Marc Akbar, Nico de Vnes, Ana Maria de Vries and Meghan Macardy as the 1st and 2nd place overall men’s and women’s racers. Kevin Gamble and Tamara Fellows took home masters mugs as well.
